I based the design of this illustration on the mourning jewellery which was popular in Georgian and Victorian times. I see this as the eye of someone peeking through a veil, and could even be seen as flirtatious, but I think this is one of those illustrations which can be read different ways by different people. In those days the imagery used was based on the drawing of a dearly departed loved one, often surrounded by woven hair. I like the story behind these pieces of jewellery, so decided to draw my own version.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR JEWELLERY
It is important to remember that the brooch itself is an illustration set under glass and is therefore not waterproof. The paper image has been glazed before being set under the glass, so is fairly well protected, but it won't like prolonged contact with water.
This item consists of assembled parts, so please keep away from babies and small children.
