I based the design of this illustration on the mourning jewellery which was popular in Georgian and Victorian times. I see this as the eye of someone peeking through a veil, and could even be seen as flirtatious, but I think this is one of those illustrations which can be read different ways by different people. In those days the imagery used was based on the drawing of a dearly departed loved one, often surrounded by woven hair. I like the story behind these pieces of jewellery, so decided to draw my own version.
ABOUT THE HAIR GRIP
The image is set under a 15mm glass dome and attached to a vintage style hairgrip setting. The setting comes in an antique bronze colour. The grip shown in the photograph is set the correct way up for attaching to the hair on the right side of your head. Please select - left, from the drop down menu if you would like the image to sit correctly on the left side of your head. This listing is for one hair grip.
